What Do You See When You Look Out The Window

One day the nurses brought two patients to a hospital room. Both patients were not in good health.The nurses put one of the patients on the bed next to the door. They put the other patient on the bed by the window.

A nurse showed the emergency button to the patient next to the door.

"If there is an emergency, you will press this button." said the nurse.The patient next to the door agreed.He knew this because he had been in the hospital for years anyway.He was even bored once and hit the emergency button. A nurse came running and asked why she had pressed the emergency button.

"I just want to chat a little bit." said the man.

After the nurse left, the two men started chatting.

Patient by the window: "My name is Josef." he said.

The patient by the door : "My name is Adam." he said. Adam and Josef started chatting.

Adam was always bored in hospital rooms. But Josef was having a very good conversation. Adam loved Josef. He was happy to have such a roommate for the first time.

Josef was watching out of the window from morning till night. Josef was telling Adam everything he saw through the window..

Josef: "Today the sea is quieter than yesterday. The wind must be lighter.White sailboats moving imperceptibly. Park? The park is still deserted.Two children are swing on the swings."

"The lovers who came last week came back again.The boy held the girl's hand. Now they sat on a bench.The boy are always telling and the girl is listening.How beautiful they are. "

"The redbuds bloomed today. Plums bloomed white like a bride."

"Alas one of the little ones fell off. His mother picked up the child. The child is crying.Anyway the boy was silent.She's laughing now."

"Students? They're engrossed in their books again."

"Several children fly a kite in the park.The kites are rising towards the sky. Seagulls are following ships."

It went on like this every day. Josef was describing what he saw through the window. Adam, was listening.

One night Josef's condition worsened.

Josef: "Hey buddy Adam. Can you press the emergency button, please?" he said."Hey buddy I know he's not sleeping. Please press that button now." Josef said.

Adam heard Josef but did not press the emergency button.If Josef died, he would go to the bed by the window himself.From the window, Adam would watch the outside, the sea, the park, the children he had dreamed of for a long time.

After a while, Josef could not stand it any longer and died. If Adam had hit the emergency button in time, the doctors would come and save Josef.

The next morning, the nurses put Adam on a bed by the window.The moment had come for Adam now.Adam was very excited. His heart rate was quick.Adam looked excitedly out the window.At the bottom of the window was nothing but the black wall.

The nurses who finished their work in the room were talking to each other as they left the room.

"Neither eyes of poor Josef could see." they said.
